D. Ed Course Admission Criterion
1. Minimum Qualification :
The minimum qualification for admission is a Pass in Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board / Council securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate may apply to the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (Diploma –in- education Course). Relaxation up to 5% of marks is allowed in case of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Class Candidates only . Candidates with higher qualification will not get any bonus marks. Selection of fresher candidates will be be made strictly on the basis of results in the Higher secondary or its equivalent examination.
2. Age:
Minimum age for admission is 18 years as on 1st July, each year. Upper age limit is 35 years (relax able in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe , Other Backward Class and Other Exempted Categories as per Government Rules. ).
3. Reservation of Seats :
Seats for the Candidates belonging to Schedule Caste , Schedule Tribe , Other Backward Class and Physically Handicapped Categories are reserved in the usual ratio of 22% ,6% ,7% and 3% respectively. It is further notified that the total number of candidates from Vocational Steam shall not be more than 4%m of the total Seats allowed as per NCTE (Board’s No. 963(19)/BPE/2009 dated 26th October, 2009).
4. Number of seats :
The intake capacity of each Institute shall be as per existing NCTE norms .
5. Duration :
The elementary teacher education programme shall be of duration of two academic years.
6. Calculation of Marks :
Percentage of marks in the Higher Secondary Examination is to be calculated on the basis of best of five excluding ES. In case of grade system the same is to be converted into percentage(%) as per regulations of the concerned Board / Council.
7. Medium of Instruction :
Medium of Instruction is Bengali
8. Medical Fitness :
A candidate applying for admission should be physically fit and free from any congenial disease . Expectant mothers will not be considered for admission.
